How I Stay #TideChic

How I Stay #TideChic

In partnership with Tide I’m super excited to share some ways you can keep your favorite washable pieces bright & clean! It’s time to show some outfits that are surprisingly washable!

I am very very guilty of spending a fortune on clothing items, and ruining them in the wash. Whether it be that amazing camel cashmere sweater which shrunk to infant size or turning my stark white clothing an off-grey mess—I’ve done it all! That being said I am so happy to be partnering with Tide to share the best way to care for your wardrobe and not be a slave to your dry-cleaner. Also who doesn’t forget to pick up stuff at the dry-cleaner seriously!

So first of all where do you get some #TideChic pieces that are washable and also a great investment piece? Two words – PINK TARTAN! I was thrilled to be able to sit down with the designer herself, Kimberly Newport Mimran and speak a bit about this season’s trends as well as Mary Johnson, a fabric care scientist from P&G to really learn about the best way to care for your wardrobe.

It’s important to note that P&G who manufacture Tide  are first and foremost a skincare brand. That being said, they create Tide with an emphasis on interactions between fabric and your skin (as in 825 scientists at 6 different research centres around the globe). Tide Pods  really add a new dimension to doing your laundry, because it is a ultra-convenient 3-in-1 laundry product that cleans, fights stains and brightens all at the same time. And me, being the accident prone person I am definitely need as much help as I can get when it comes to maintaining my clothes.

Tips & Tricks

Screen Shot 2016-04-30 at 5.35.21 PMAlways read the care labels. There is a thing called first wash anxiety and I definitely have gotten this! So be sure to read that tiny little label which will help keep your items looking fab!

Anything delicate use a mesh garment bag. Cold water/gentle cycle. Hang to dry! You can totally put the mesh garment bag in with other clothes as well (I personally like to separate by color).

Keep your jeans looking that gorgeous indigo blue by washing them inside out and in cold water. Hang dry.

If hand-washable, use cool water and a detergent for fine washables like Tide Ultra Stain Release Liquid Detergent.

Use a Fabric Conditioner!  Downy Fabric Conditioner is a great choice because it protects clothes at the fiber level, helping to prevent overstretching, fading and fuzzing.  In total, Tide makes your garments look great, and Downy maintains the fit, feel, and look.

I am SO not the person to wear white the whole day without any sort of stain, so when I saw these fabulous pants from Pink Tartan I just HAD to get them!

A #TideChic Outfit is an ensemble embracing the movement of easy to care for yet stylish fashions. And these pants do exactly that! I was literally going up and down the stairs of the flagship Pink Tartan store because they really do fit so well and move with your body.

PS. every Pink Tartan item goes through the ‘Kim Test,’ to check for ultimate wearability and to fit with every woman’s lifestyle!

I was so happy to finally sit down with Kim herself and chat about this season, the Pink Tartan woman and some advice for some of you out there reading.

On millenials getting into fashion..Nothing happens overnight. There is a lot of research and development that builds on how collection gets done. Like anything, you have to do something a thousand times before you get close to doing it perfectly! How to develop and speak to your customer, and fitting a garment are things that you learn overtime.

On the plain, normcore, androgynous fashion.. It’s all cyclical, things do always move. There is a normcore aspect of Pink Tartan but there is always a little flair and a little attitude to a piece. It’s not just a basic white pant. The people who do normcore correctly know exactly what pieces of flare to add to them, the right Common Projects with the little gold foil or the right Givenchy.

On the partnership with Tide.. I do like the washable aspect, and really care about fabric technology and fabric care is just as important. Tide is a premium washing detergent that works. I’m a bit of a science geek and when I find out how good that technology is it gets my seal of approval.

The Pink Tartan Girl…Chic, modern, follows fashion & runway.. but has a real life to live!
