Born in Toronto, Victoria Radford is a celebrity makeup artist and skincare specialist. I recently visited her newly launched studio-- RADFORD in the heart of Yorkville to try out the most talked about new treatment, the Rezenerate Wand treatment.

The absolute worst part about getting a facial is that dreaded dart into your car hoping you won’t see anyone. I hate running into someone completely spotty faced, red and blotchy. The awkward.. “Oh, hey what are you up to?” “Oh just…. you know going for a run?” Yeah right.

That’s why… when I heard that celebrity makeup artist Victoria Radford was bringing an amazing facial treatment from LA to Toronto– more specifically the Rezenerate Wand treatment I was more than thrilled to try it out because of these amazing perks. First of all–ZERO downtime and immediate results so you instantly have red carpet ready skin. So you can literally stroll right out of there looking like an A-List Celeb. And when I say A-List, I legit mean A-List as Victoria is fresh off Grammy-award winning Fergie’s world tour with the Black Eyed Peas. G-L-A-M-O….kay I’ll stop. The Rezenerate Wand Treatment also yields results like less pimples, less wrinkles, smaller pores–the whole shebang. It’s overall an fantastic and technologically advanced treatment suitable for so many skincare needs.

Victoria is also trained in holistic medicine, and you totally sense the calming energy as soon as you step inside RADFORD. Upon entering, you are welcomed into a chic and modern space, with the latest innovations in beauty and cosmetics tinkering amongst the shelves. Victoria has taken her personal brand to the next level by producing her own line of skincare products. One in particular which I got to take home with me was the RADFORD Camera Ready Buff, available for $45.00 CAD. It’s a fabulous enzyme exfoliate that can be used wet or dry, and contains papaya & pineapple enzymes and jojoba beads. I never underestimate the importance of a good exfoliant before you put on your makeup.  The last thing you want is any dry flakes after you put on your foundation!

After settling into the space, it was soon time for treatment. I was so relaxed in the space and was genuinely calmed by Victoria’s voice and interested in her story and what she had to say. I decided to ask Victoria a few questions not only about her practice, but about life as a female entrepreneur. Read more of her answers after the break.

 1) What inspired you to start RADFORD? When did you know it was time?

Radford has always existed, I started my makeup school back in 2004. It has just been a steady build up, to what has EXPLODED into 115 Hazeton, in the last few months.

2) What motivated you to create your own line of products?

Having my own line of products, above and beyond anything else, has always been my dream. When I was younger, I was always interested in how to improve the skin and make it sparkle. reading the ingredients of many products always disappointment me, and I felt like I could do it better.

3) What is the number one makeup mistake which women make?
The number one makeup mistake is not thinking about you face first. If you use good skin products, and stop messing with your eyebrows, you don’t need a lot of makeup to be a ten out of ten.

4) What is the best way to protect your skin?
Coconut oil! it does it all, it is hydrating, has a sun protection factor of 4, it is anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and gives your skin a gorgeous glow.

5) What is so amazing about the The Wand Facial?
If you were going to plant a beautiful bed of roses in your backyard, you would first need to turn the soil over. The Wand Facial essentially turns your skin over. It increases your natural collagen production, visibly smooths skin of scaring, heals acne, and brightens sun spots.

6) What is the most important thing you have learned when it comes to skincare?
People need to literally sit on their hands, rather than pick their skin at night, it spreads bacteria and can create breakouts.

7) Describe to me the most exciting minute of your entrepreneurial journey?
This minute right now, because I like to live in the moment.

8) What do you do on a daily basis to grow as an entrepreneur?
There are three aspects to being a successful entrepreneur. One – people, two – process, and three – product. I have great people that are working with me, I couldn’t do it without them. I am always working to make my process more efficient, and developing my product is where I get to have the most fun.
