How To Spread Some Unexpected Joy This Holiday Season

How To Spread Some Unexpected Joy This Holiday Season

Cadbury Dairy Milk's new campaign brings ordinary people moments of joy and I was happy to bring some to those who mean the most to me this holiday season. Get ready to see how I #FreeTheJoy

I’m a firm believer in karma, what you put out into the world comes back to you in one way or another. That’s why when Cadbury asked me to spread some unexpected joy with random acts of kindness, I was more than happy to oblige.

For my first unexpected moment, who better than to surprise but my Mom! I gave her a call early on a Saturday morning, told her to bundle up and that I would be there to pick her up soon. We took a trip to the Shops at Don Mills where we were greeted by such a pleasant sight, so many happy and smiling faces with two majestic white horses with a beautiful purple flair. And even better, a carriage ride similar to something that you would see at Christmas in Central Park.

My Mom was so shocked that THIS was what we came to do and we had such a fun little ride together, took a few pictures and made a memory that would last a lifetime. We also got some chocolate to bring home too!

It was after this that Cadbury actually surprised me with my very own Surprise & Delight Box filled with items that I’d be able to share with those I care about the most during the holiday season. It was like an early Christmas morning for me if you will, and I got my very own huge Cadbury Dairy Milk bar with my name on it! It was such a treat.

For my second unexpected moment, I had to get my brothers involved. It’s always been a Christmas Eve tradition in my family to share some Christmas crackers with my brothers. It’s one of my fondest memories as a child, the look you get on your face with a simple ‘pop’ and a cute present! It’s priceless. That’s why when I saw the Cadbury Christmas crackers in my surprise box I knew exactly who to spread some unexpected joy with.

We had so much fun cracking them open and I’m sure that the experience brought back some memories of us bonding over the holidays when we were younger as well.

And for a little special surprise, I gave my brother Junior an amazing Cadbury sweater that I got in my surprise box! He loved it!

And yet, there was still more to give! Honestly, this surprise box was literally the best thing to happen to me around Christmas! I was able to make so many people happy — who can say no to Cadbury chocolate?! As for the huge Cadbury Dairy Milk bar I knew I exactly who to share that with, my work family! At work sometimes you just need that sugar rush and so who better to bring some extra chocolate to than my second family, my work family!

Anyone who works in an office environment knows that candy and especially Cadbury chocolate won’t last long and will get eaten right away. My co-workers loved the chocolate and it was awesome seeing everyone’s smile when I told them I had a special something for them. It inspired me to bring in some chocolate every year.

Last but not least it was time to give away this adorable ornament by Cadbury which had the year 2016. I thought this would be perfect for my friend Jess as she just spent time on a huge Christmas tree for her apartment. I was looking forward to this surprise, along with a few Cadbury Mini Eggs for us to munch on while we caught up.

Gifting an ornament is always a great idea since it’s something that will last year after year!

While we were catching up and eating Mini Eggs, I also remembered I had a special gift for our canine companion, her cute Portuguese Water Dog named Dobby! He was trying to steal the mini eggs from us the whole time we were chatting!

We had to give Dobby some Cadbury gear too, it was only fair.

Overall it was SUCH an amazing treat to be able to give some of the yummiest chocolate on the planet to those who mean the most to me around the holidays. From the carriage ride, to the Surprise & Delight box, to the amazing gifts inside I was so thrilled to #FreeTheJoy this season and I hope I can continue that into the New Year. Making others smile is one of the best feelings ever <3
